When he first ran the Marathon du Médoc, Chris Cardon never thought that 10 years later he would be outbidding Château Latour for a multimillion euro parcel of fine Pauillac vineland.
The Belgian pharmaceuticals mogul – his company, Ecuphar, is one of the world’s major manufacturers of veterinary medicine – fell for Pauillac when he slogged through it in 2006, in the famous race that takes in the great vineyards of the Left Bank.
